Travel is a great passion and lovely necessity of Menz’s explorative work. Fluent in four languages and having lived in several countries, Menz is used to setting up her nomadic studio anywhere at any time. Whether installing a piece in a royal palace or trailing around a Caribbean village to find a metal welding location, there are always new tales and adventures to be had.
An essential part of her inspiration, visual stimulation, research and collaboration is to explore new cultures, materials and most importantly to meet people with different cultural influences. Each trip involves intense visual exploration and finding the local artistic community of makers, and artisans.
The pictures from these travels serve as both a visual diary and inspirational mood board, and hopefully also provide travel inspiration to others?
I CANNOT HELP BUT LOOK FOR CREATIVITY, IN SPACES, WITH MAKERS, MATERIALS, COMMUNITIES – EVERYWHERE I GO. AND TO ALWAYS LEARN SOMETHING NEW! THAT IS WHAT LIFE IS ABOUT.
