/Rio, Bahia, Brazil
Some dear friends who were setting up home and an artist-in-residence project here made me curious and board a plane. It was interesting to see the beauty, hustle, trials and tribulations required to materialise such ideas in a country like Brazil. We found 70-year-old interior magazines and all sorts of treasured details everywhere.
Ilhéus was next, visiting the stunning and faraway Butterflyhouse. With a 20-metre wide beach and strong waves you can sit, think, dream and count a surfer walk past perhaps once every hour. We explored the nearby lagoon and islands and enjoyed local smiles and nature, nature, nature.
Before heading back to Rio we made the 7-hour trip to trendy Trancoso and snooped around some beautiful houses and hotels for inspiration. For a once-in-a-lifetime moment we met and spent an evening dancing and singing with the soloists from the Munich Philharmonics. For the more organised traveller I recommend looking into the music festivals there, and go visit!
